I have been working hard to process one animal or another. Different sheep breeds, alpaca, all stacked in plastic totes waiting for a warm day.

But why fleece when roving is so readily available?

I can answer this in one word: feel.

Fleece feels so much different and I feel it saves the characteristics of the fiber. Softer, crimp pattern more preserved.

It is easier than you think to spin washed fleece.  Just grab a small handful, fluff in your hands to arrange the fibers or use combs. Spin from a cloud in your hand or from the fold.

Put some life into your yarn and give it a try! And...look in the shop next week for natural and dyed scoured, picked fleece for you to try!!
